Orbiting WASP-189 | 99.7 parsecs away

Share

WASP-189 b is a Super-Jupiter exoplanet (an exceptionally massive gas giant), about 18.1 times the radius of Earth. Its scorching equilibrium temperature of 3353 K (3080°C) makes it far too hot for liquid water. The planet completes one orbit around its star every 2.7 Earth days. It was discovered in 2020 using the transit method. It orbits the star WASP-189, located approximately 100 parsecs (325 light-years) from Earth.
